A Building & Pest inspection was conducted on Monday at the historical Broken Hill, Australia’s longest-lived mining city. Known as the Silver City, Broken Hill is situated on one of the world’s richest deposits of silver, lead, and zinc ores.
In a hot and subacid region, the site was first visited in 1844 by Charles Sturt, named the humpbacked range Broken Hill.
Our experienced Inspector and Building Consultant, Elie Farah, along with one of our competent Structural Engineers have inspected the famous Carrington Hall and Chambers, which was built in 1888 and named after Lord Carrington, the Governor of New South Wales (1885-1890), who had visited Broken Hill in the year the building was constructed.
The building has a typical NSW late Victorian design and features a two-storey section with single-storey side wings and a wide veranda. An elaborate pre-Federation coat-of-arms decorates the central section. Additions have been made to the building, but the interior is original and intact.
